First 12 students graduate airBaltic Pilot Academy

Riga. Today the first graduation ceremony of the airBaltic Pilot Academy took place at airBaltic Training facilities in Riga. The first 12 students, who began their studies just 18 months ago in spring 2018, have now graduated from the program and are joining airBaltic as first officers.
Martin Gauss, CEO of airBaltic: “Similarly to aircraft, pilots are a notable part of airline operations. Now the first graduates of the pilot academy are joining our company as first officers. They will build their careers as part of airBaltic’s future development and will as our future Captains ensure our high standards in flight operations. I am sure that the graduation ceremony and the success of our first graduate students will inspire more young people to consider becoming a pilot.”
Pauls Cālītis, airBaltic SVP Flight Operations: “The first group of students have set a very high standard for the next groups. They showed very strong commitment and excellent results, which now will help them to become professional in aviation. The first graduation is a significant milestone for our pilot academy, which now has enrolled over 50 students with more to come during coming years.” In August, construction works began on a fully equipped aircraft hangar at International Airport Liepaja. In addition, airBaltic Training completed an order of additional Diamond Aircraft to support the continued growth of pilot academy’s training capabilities.
